Overview
Located on the panhandle of Florida, 30A is a 24 mile, two-laned road that runs through several beaches on the Gulf of Mexico, including Grayton Beach, Seaside, and Rosemary Beach. The beaches along 30A are known for their stunning views, beautiful sand, and lovely waves. Location, Map, and Transportation to the Beach
30A is on the southern side of Walton County, so it is often referred to as part of "South Walton." Depending on where you live, the easiest means of travel to any beach on 30A would be driving in a car or flying in an airplane. If flying, the nearest airports are Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport and Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. Once at the airport, the best rental car companies, taxis, and shuttles near the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport are listed on the airport's website under "Transportation." For the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, the best methods of transportation from the airport are listed under their "Taxis, Rental Cars & Ride Sharing" menu bar option.
Maneuvering Around at the Beach
Once at the beach, there are many ways to get around in the area:
- Biking - There are sidewalks everywhere, making it very easy to bike around. Most of the places are within a short distance. Bike rentals are everywhere, but many houses come with bikes as well.
- Shuttles - Worrying about finding a parking spot? These shuttles help you get to your exact destination, such as the beach or other areas. However, they do only run during the prime season.
- Walking - With the miles of sidewalks, walking is a very cost-efficient and fun method of transportation. The beach atmosphere and pretty houses and shops along the way are very interesting to look at. Plus, it is a great way to get exercise as well!
- Golf Carts - If you are unable to bike or walk, golf carts are quick and easy to get around. It makes traveling with a group of people and a lot of beach gear very simple. Like bikes, there are many places to rent golf carts as well.
- Car - If you drove down to 30A or prefer to have a rental car, then this a good option also. There are several rental car companies. Additionally, it is nice to have the ease of your own car as well.
Climate and Weather
30A is a beautiful area, but it can get pretty hot! The best time of the year to visit is April, especially the end of April. The weather is consistently warm but not overly hot, it is not too crowded (particularly during the end of the month after spring break), and the water is not too cold to swim in.
